It is all right to give your pet one bath between treatments, allow them to swim, or be exposed to sunlight without adversely affecting the effectiveness of Advantage flea control. If you feel you need to retreat your dog due to more frequent bathing, do not apply more than once weekly. Do not use any insecticides on your pet while you are using Advantage flea control. If your pet is exposed to water more than the recommended amount of times for Advantage flea control, please consider Frontline flea and tick control as an alternative.
Though not absolutely necessary, a very effective adjunct treatment for your home is Flea Busters Rx for Fleas. We have found that these two products used together will provide complete flea control in a very short period of time. Advantage for dogs is not effective in tick control, so you must use another product. The most effective product we have found for this is the Preventic Collars for dogs which kills ticks for up to three months after application. The two are quite safe when used together. Alternatively, K9 Advantix for Dogs is produced by Bayer and is effective against fleas and ticks.
